Gallery Lettering

It started out as an idea. Try and sum up the ethos behind the artwork from Hartwig in a crisp and clear quote somewhere within the gallery. We had a (literally) blank canvas for a wall (well, a sloped ceiling overhang!) which was the perfect location to display a quote from the artist in pride of place above his work. Great idea you think…though my shoulder’s certainly not thanking me for it now (ouch)!

Taking the original quote from Hartwig, printing it off in large font on our large format printer I made up some stencils and cut out the individual letters.

Then each letter was traced around on the wall firstly in pencil and then coloured in with black ink (must be picking up some Hartwig influences: his trademark style of tracing then colouring in!)

It really did take hours…and my shoulder is testament to that! But it was well worth it. We’re really happy with how it came out and hope you like it too.

A new home for ARTY GLOBE!

As of today, 2nd July 2010, we are delighted and very proud to announce the move to bigger premises and a more prominent location within Greenwich Market.

It's fantastic for us to see how far we have come - from a humble market stall only 18 months ago:

To our first shop in April 2009:

When we first got the keys to the new shop on 22nd July 2010 it was literally a blank canvas:

But within 10 (very long days), a lot of hard work & sweat (one of the warmest weeks so far this year) we managed to transform it completely and give it a fresh and vibrant look:

In the coming weeks we plan to extend the gallery space on both floors to allow more canvases, prints and original hand-drawn artwork to be visible.

The Arty Globe Shop 1st Anniversary

It was just over a year ago that we made the leap from a weekend market stall to our first ever shop at Greenwich Market and it proved to be a very positive and successful move for us. Being able to display our prints and canvases in a nice gallery environment and compliment it with a range of our elegantly displayed high-quality merchandise range has proved to be a hit with locals and visitors alike.

The photos below were taken very recently by our great friend Saxon Bashford at 'Bottledrop films" and we love them!
