The Entrepreneur - Isaac Lilos
Isaac Lilos has an instinctive affinity for business: from working with figures, finding creative solutions to problems, and being an IT whizz, he is a natural born entrepreneur. His innate optimism, boundless energy and determination, coupled with an accumulation of different professional skills garnered throughout his working life and a love of design has made him into such a driving force behind ‘Arty Globe’.
Now settled here in the UK for more than 13 years, even from a young age the inquisitive Isaac held a fascination for how things work. The early years were filled with maths, Lego and science kits, then progressing to the first ZX Spectrum computers and IBM PC’s – these were the original green screens with huge, square, magnetic floppy disks – and getting into programming.
He would frequently be absorbed in the mechanics of them, getting to grips with the operating systems and the programming language (the main one for personal computers back in the 80’s being DOS). If he wasn’t building a computer then he would be analysing them, pulling them apart, upgrading them and generally tinkering away and discovering ways of improving their performance and capabilities!
This love of IT stayed with him and, after a three-year stint in the army as part of national service, he decided to stay on for another year building his, by now, well-advanced knowledge and skills of IT, systems and networks. Gradually, an appetite for business had been steadily growing, and a month’s visit to our leading centre of finance London when he was 23 resulted in him staying put in the UK ever since.
Since then this natural entrepreneur has turned his hand to different roles and adapted and developed his skills across many industry sectors including; property, automobile and professional services in IT and accounting. He stresses that it’s never been about the money, it’s always been about the challenge, continuous learning and putting that know-how into practice.
In tandem with his logical and analytical qualities, the creative side to Isaac has also been blossoming. An appreciation for design and drawing, along with his IT expertise, has enabled him to delve into and experiment with design software and video editing, which is fast becoming a favourite hobby.
Highly extrovert, he likes nothing better than meeting new people and cultivating great working relationships and friendships. Always happy to provide a friendly ear and offer sound business advice to friends, family and colleagues, the nine-to-five grind is something which is alien to him. Being the commercial brains behind the brand, the entrepreneur is always looking at original ways to develop the business and is very much behind its meteoric rise.
With Hartwig’s design talent and Isaac’s insatiable appetite for business they really are the perfect business partnership.
“It all started after I noticed a small illustration of Amsterdam done by Hartwig. I pestered him to do a full size image of London and after six months he finally agreed. Then he did Paris, New York and Berlin too. He puts a lot of time and energy into each of his hand drawn images. It is a great reward for us both to see what amazing opportunities have opened to us in such a short period of time.” (I. Lilos)
