The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao
Bilbao’s Guggenheim Museum – one of the most celebrated landmarks in contemporary architecture – commissioned Hartwig Braun to come up with a new design, using his unique signature style featuring the high-profile cultural site. The design shows the view facing from the other side of the river, to the back of the main entrance of the building. With colouring and gradients reflecting the metal titanium cladding of the building the museum naturally stands out even when sited as part of a larger image.
The iconic spider sculpture of ‘Maman’ is seen here to the side of the museum by the bank of the river. Also captured in the image is the La Salve Bridge, commonly known as the ‘Princes of Spain’ suspension bridge (built over two decades before the Guggenheim) displaying the beautiful integration, flow and harmony between the two structures. The surrounding natural landscape of mountain ranges provides an unusual backdrop contrasting with the sleek modern angles and structures of the iconic museum, bridge and contemporary Bilbao.
Completed in May 2009, the design now features in own-branded merchandise available at the Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao as well as online at their website.
